Affiliate Disclosure

Some links on EasyPortugalNow can earn us money. This page says which ones, how we label them, and what they never change.
Affiliate links
If you click an affiliate link and then buy or sign up, the company may pay us a commission. You pay the same price as anyone else.
Today we have no affiliate links. If that changes, this page says so and the partner directory shows which partners are affiliates.
How we label them
- In an article, an affiliate link is followed by a short note saying that it is an affiliate link and that EasyPortugalNow may earn a commission if you buy through that company.
- In the partner directory, affiliate partners carry an “Affiliate” tag.
- In the “Our partners” logo strip, the logos of affiliate partners are affiliate links.
- In the articles, the partner directory and the logo strip, the page code gives affiliate links
rel="sponsored", which tells search engines that the link is paid.
We disclose these links as the U.S. Federal Trade Commission expects. Its Guides Concerning Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), which explain how it applies the law against deceptive advertising, say that a connection between the one recommending and the seller that could affect how you weigh the recommendation must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously (section 255.5). A commission is such a connection.
Paid partner placements
Companies can also pay to appear on the site as partners: in a partner box inside the articles of one category, on that category’s page, on the home page, in the partner directory, or in a short mention in the newsletter. A company can also sponsor a guide on a subject we agree on together: we write it to our usual standard, from official sources, and it is labeled as sponsored. Every such placement is labeled as a partner or as sponsored. The advertise page describes what we offer.
What money never changes
- A commission or a partnership never decides whether we write about a company, what an article says, the sources it cites or what it concludes.
- Articles rest on official sources, cited by link, and a partner cannot change that.
- When a good option pays us nothing, we mention it too.
Our own offers
The Portugal Navigator is ours. When an article points to it, the money you pay comes to us directly.
